| The
School of Sciences (former Basic Department, founded in 1950), Liaoning
Shihua University (LSHU), was renamed in 2002.
At present, the school is composed of three department (Information and Compute
Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics), Basic Teaching Branch, Applied
Mathematics & Physics Research Center, and Experiment Center. At the same
time, the school has three undergraduate specialties (Information and Compute
Science, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics) and one post
graduate specialties (Compute Science) clinging to Computer Applied Technology.
There are 408 undergraduates and 15 master degree candidates. The School of Science has a total
of 57 faculty members, including 52 full-time teachers, of whom 8 are
professors and 6 are associate professors, which occupy 30% of the total. Of
all the teachers, one has PhD, 20 have master degree, which account for 70%.
Faculty members undertake undergraduate and graduate teaching duties including
Mathematics, Physics, special courses of the college and graduate courses. During
the last five years, 16 research projects are taken including 2 nation science
nature foundations, 6 provincial- and ministerial-level projects and so on. The
college has won 5 state- provincial- and ministerial-level prizes. 387 academic
papers published in the international and national journal, and 5 monographs
printed.
In recent years the school achieves much success in courses construction, teaching innovatio-
